Richard Martin, President & CEO
Richard founded OriGen Biomedical in February of 1996. Taking an ever-growing education and life/work experiences in engineering, leadership, management and an entrepreneurial spirit he sought to do two things–improve and innovate the design and manufacture of life-saving medical technologies AND create an excellent workplace for his employees.
Engineering experience in the biomedical industry involved product research and development; and management of production/manufacturing and quality for companies such as Baxter-Travenol Labs, Alcon Labs, Shiley Inc., Hemex Scientific. A growing interest in improving on mechanical heart valve medical devices led to executive level and co-founding positions in Pacific Biomedical, Jomed Implantate GmbH and Jostra USA.
Richard received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M beginning his career as a Navigator with the Electronic Warfare Office of the United States Air Force receiving 2100+ flight hours during the Vietnam War. He received his M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. He also holds the recognition of Registered Mechanical Engineer and as a Certified Quality Engineer.

Now that we are done with the stats - My main focus is on producing the highest of quality products. As a top priority, I aim to meet the needs of our patients/customers as well as my employees. I love my job and my family. I have two adorable boys along with our loyal dog, Chewy Chewbacca. I am happily addicted to coffee and like to read and run whenever I can squeeze it in.
Beth San Segundo, Director of Sales & Marketing
Beth has been with OriGen since its’ founding, as employee number three. She began her career with OriGen in 1998 working part time in manufacturing the OriGen dual lumen cannula while attending the University of Texas at Austin. During college, she worked in the health care industry in oncology wards and witnessed the effects of aggressive cancer on patients and the hope that they demonstrated. After completing her degree in biology, she began investigating the field of stem cell therapies. She joined the OriGen team full time in 2002 and worked in all aspects of the then very small company with fewer than 10 people and only 3 full time employees. She has watched, helped, and encouraged the company growth into the solid enterprise it is today. This provided her with invaluable business management experience and years of progressively successful experience as a marketing professional. Beth obtained her MBA in Business Management from St. Edwards University in 2014. Apparently, she likes to attend universities where the mascots make good barbecue! (longhorns and goats)
Currently, Beth serves as the Director of Sales and Marketing, a job that she loves because she meets new people, gets to act on the voice of the customer, and is encouraged by hearing success stories of people in remission from a disease that could have overpowered them. She is extremely knowledgeable about our products and customers, and is responsible for communicating OriGen values to our employees and customers. She enjoys the dynamic and collegial atmosphere of the office, where each day brings a new opportunity and/or a curveball.
Beth is focused, driven, and enjoys seeing those she works with succeed. When not at the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, hiking, running half marathons (because 26 miles seems boring, but 13.1 is exciting), experimenting in the kitchen, and pretty much any crafty type thing to do from building and refinishing furniture to hand quilting a blanket for a friend.
Jackie Jaskula, Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Jackie joined OriGen Biomedical in August 2015 as Director, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Jackie comes to OriGen with a long history of experience in life sciences reagents and in vitro diagnostic device. Before joining OriGen, Jackie held the positions of Senior Manager QA/QC at Thermo Fisher and Director of Quality Assurance at Agilent Technologies. Jackie has a Master and Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Indiana and Washington State Universities respectively.
Jackie is a long-time member of RAPS and ASQ with a special fondness for regulations. Jackie approaches quality and regulatory compliance in a flexible manner built on partnering requirements of customers and regulators with the needs and culture of the business. In her free time, Jackie enjoys quilting, triathlons, and wrangling her sons. On a good night she’d prefer to end her day with a cup of cocoa and a stack of regulations to be read by the fire!
